AVW200 OS sending problem

Alper Aug 3, 2011 02:06 PM

Hello all,

I recieve an error message while trying to send operating system of AVW200:

"Invalid fragment signature recieved. The whole operating sysem could not be sent. The device probably not boot after this. In order to recover, the operating system must be re-sent."

After that, I cannot simply connect to device either. What can I do?

Thanks,
Alper.

Alper,
Using the Device Configuration Utility, select the AVW200 from the left, then select the Send OS tab. Do NOT connect first. Now follow the instructions on the Send OS tab which includes powering down the device and powering it back up again at a certain point.
Let us know if that worked for you.
Janet

Dear Janet

I was not connecting first, actually. I desperately kept on trying to send the OS (in the way you described). In one of my attempts, luckily, I was able to send the OS. However, I still don't know what was the problem and how it was solved. Anyway, it seems to work properly now. I was not able to send this reply before because I had to went to our application site where no internet was available. Thank you for your kind help.

Alper.

As a general point, operating system upgrades via the Device configurator, involves sending out quite a volume of data pretty fast through the serial port. We have a few reports similar to that above which have been found to be due to using USB-Serial adaptors, the hardware or drivers of which are not quite up to the job. (The error basically means the device has detected the data sent to it has been corrupted.)

Moving to a different PC, preferably with a hardware serial port usually resolves the issue.
