no data after the coma

fdec May 27, 2011 10:33 AM

hi
I am confronted with a question mark.
on my last collect data, I find myself with values that have no digits after the decimal point. like that :

25/05/2011 13:40 7194 3.863 7.56 1.057
25/05/2011 13:50 7195 4.337 7.81 1.708
25/05/2011 14:00 7196 3.846 6.91 1.057
25/05/2011 14:10 7197 3.69 8 0.257
25/05/2011 14:20 7198 4.082 7 2.058
25/05/2011 14:30 7199 4.975 9.16 2.358
25/05/2011 14:40 7200 5.795 8 3.508
25/05/2011 14:50 7201 4.836 8.41 2.408
25/05/2011 15:00 7202 4.847 8 1.908
25/05/2011 15:10 7203 4.629 10 2.158
25/05/2011 15:20 7204 5.108 8 2.258
25/05/2011 15:30 7205 3.411 6 0.857
25/05/2011 15:40 7206 4.636 6 2.408
25/05/2011 15:50 7207 4.183 7 2.258
25/05/2011 16:00 7208 3.368 5.659 1.508
25/05/2011 16:10 7209 3.644 5.759 1.407
25/05/2011 16:20 7210 3.549 5.559 1.307

Do you find this normal? and how this could be ?

It appears that you are using the FP2 format for the first data field. As soon as the value went above 799.9, you lost your fractional resolution. Switch to IEEE4.

See section 9.5.1.4 of the CR1000 manual, Tables 31 and 32.

dear sam
thanks for your answer
i agree with you, i use the FP2
but look at the line 4 of my data
you can see only the number 8 with no other digit and no coma.
it's wind speed data, and i can't high value.

do you have an idea

Most of our output formats will dropping leading and trailing spaces when outputting ASCII data. Thus 8.0 will come at as 8 exactly. This is done to save storage space on the computer.

dear andrew

i agree with you, when the measure is 8.0 the data storage will be 8.
but if you see the data that i have write, you can see several measures as a result have no digit after comma.

do you think it's possible to have a problem with the station?

The "." is also removed as this is not needed, because as you say 8 is the same as 8. or 8.0

There is almost certainly nothing wrong with the station as the decoding of the data from binary (the normal format our software transfers data to the PC in) to ASCII is done by the PC software not the datalogger.

I am not sure which software you are using to get the format posted but it looks OK as far as I can tell.
