Traffic to cell modem blocked

Anton Mar 18, 2011 05:50 PM

We have a Sierra Raven X modem that works fine for outbound traffic but refuses to respond to inbound traffic of any kind on any port, including ping.

Is there a magic phrase that can be spoken to the service provider (Telus, Canada) to help them set up the service properly so that incoming traffic is sent to the modem?

Many thanks!

Anton

Anton,

Generally this is due to your APN configuration on the modem.
The APN number or name is used to define the type of service.

Generally if you need a different APN there is a monthly fee involved. However if the current SIM card recognized the the network you can program the logger (CR800 series, CR1000, CR3000)to email the data to you. In other words you will be sending your data from the logger as an attachment in an email and not collecting it from LoggerNet.
