Is it possible to save data from a logger directly to a network drive via LoggerNet? If so, how? I can save snapshots from RTMC to my network drives, I can use dat files from those drives in RTMC projects, but LoggerNet simply won't recognize them. I've tried using UNC paths (\\msa-nt11\Users\Patrol\Shared\AVALAN~2\CAMPBE~2\MMSA_SESAME.DAT) as well as the mapped drive letter (U:\) with no luck. I've just been running a batch file to copy the local files over to the network drive, but as part of my twice a year daylight savings headache I thought I'd revisit this issue. It would be nice to streamline the data flow a bit.
If you are running LoggerNet as a service, by default the service will run under a local machine account called "LoggerNet". Because this account is local to machine hosting LoggerNet, it is unlikely to have rights on your network domain. I.E. services that are accessible to your logged in (probably domain) account are not available to the local machine account under which LoggerNet is running.
You can change the account under which the LoggerNet service is running by doing the following:
- right click on "Computer" (windows 7) or "My Computer" (windows XP) in the windows start menu
- Select the "Manage" option inn the resulting context menu
- Under the "Services and Applications" category in the "Computer Management" applet, select "Services".
- Find the service labelled "CsiLoggerNet" in the list of services and click on it with the right mouse button. Choose "Properties" from the resulting context menu. A dialogue entitled "CsiLoggerNet Properties" should then appear.
- Within this dialogue, click on the "Log On" tab. This tab should have the controls that will allow you to specify the domain account (as "domain\username") and password for that account.
- When the changes are applied, restart the service so that the new account name will be used.
