Connecting to CR1000 with static IP

CTS Sep 9, 2010 06:26 AM

Hi,
I have the following sertup:
CR1000 connected to MC35i GPRS modem via CS/IO port and appropriate connector. The logger send data hourly to a e-mail address as well as to a FTP Server.

No I am trying to connect to the logger with loggernet over TCP/IP but it does not work. I need to be able to update my software remotely. Using dail in does not work as the CS I/O port is configured for IP.

Is it possible to connect to the logger over TCP/IP using a standard GSM modem?

Loggernet states that the IP as well as the Port number must be used to connect to the logger. Where do I find out the port number to connect to?

thx
e.

The default port would be 6785, ie 192.168.1.100:6785

i would suspect that the port number would have to be determined by the modem itself rather than the logger. the way the Ravens work is you tell it which port number you want to use when you want to route the packets out the serial port, and then you are in. Since you are talking through the CS IO port the typical 6785 port that you see on the dataloggers become pretty irrelovent since the routing has to be done before it even gets to the datalogger. i'd look in the modem software for a port number you can specify

The GSM modem can be configured as either a serial server or it can act as a gateway device. It sounds like your application calls for the IP stack in the datalogger to be used directly. If that is the case, you may need to configure port forwarding on the modem. The method for doing this is going to depend on the type of modem that you are using.
