LoggerNet already running

RiverMetrics Jan 25, 2009 05:29 PM

After installing the drivers for SC-USB, and then loading the latest version of LoggerNet on Windows XP laptop, we received the message "LoggerNet is already running" when attempting to start the software. The Task Manager indicated that LoggerNet was not running, and after a reboot of the PC the error message still appeared. I have a recollection of encountering this problem before. Solutions?

Rand,

I have encountered a similar problem but it's "LoggerNetService is already running". I just do CTL-ALT-DEL, click on the processes tab and stop the service. YOu might want to try that.

Good Luck

Port 6789 is the port that LoggerNet clients, like the Connect screen, use to communicate with the LoggerNet server. When the LoggerNet server is started it tries to open port 6789 for listening. If it can't the error message you described is displayed.

After a fresh reboot use a utility like TCPView (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897437.aspx) or Windows NETSTAT to see if anything is using port 6789. If something is using it note the name of the process. You should also make sure that no firewall or virus protection software is preventing LoggerNetService.exe from opening up port 6789 for listening.

Please post the results of what you find.
