CommActive, CR800

Wei Jul 4, 2010 09:44 AM

What can cause the ME, COM310 and SDC ports of a CR800 all go active at the same time ? The interface I am using is SC105 with address set to 7.

CommActiveRS232 False
CommActiveME True
CommActiveCOM310 True
CommActiveSDC7 True
CommActiveSDC8 False

Thanks !

The COM310 should be connected to the datalogger's CS I/O port using a simple straight-through cable. When communicating, COM310 and SDC7 would both be True.

What are you using the SC105 for/what is it connected to?

Thanks for the reply !

The SC105 is connected to a laptop alone.

The SC105 is connected to a laptop alone.

And connected to?? the datalogger? Which port?

I think all of your "commsactive=true" instances are due to communication with the datalogger.

Sorry for the unclear message ! The connection then was

Laptop --> SC105 (add 7) --> CR800 CS I/O Port

Besides this, the only other device connecting to the datalogger then was a GPS (via the COM2).

Thanks !

P.S. Isn't the ME port and SDC port exclusive to one another ? Also, I don't have a COM310.

Yes, typically the SDC and ME are not active at the same time, unless you have multiple devices connected. I was confused about what equipment was being used.

I would start by disconnecting devices and see what state the lines are in. Without knowing what kind of GPS device and where it is connected, I have no idea.

You may want to contact your local CSI office and work with them, as it may be easier than working over a forum.
