problem about CR3000 LCD display

Hi Mr:
One of my end user did a wrong operation about the CR3000 keyboard , then cause the LCD can't display anything. He couldn't remember which key he pressed. Now the CR3000 LCD
can't be lighted. I have try to press many keys, but the LCD
no response still. Please help me , how to let the LCD work?

After we removed the back up battery of the cr3000, it works! but, it is very interesting. please check why?

You can adjust the contrast of the CR3000 (or CR1000KD or CR850) display. From the display's main menu press the the <<4 button to lighten or >>6 button to darken. See the top right corner of page OV-35 of your CR3000 manual.

We know how to adjust the contrast very well and all functions of the keyboard. The LCD display was "dead", no any actions when we do anything to it. This is our first time to meet this situation. And our customer don't know which key he had done.
