Connecting multiple NL100s & CR1000s via RS-485

NineFingers May 4, 2010 11:58 PM

Per our customer's request, we are trying to setup multiple NL100s and CR100s in a fashion similar to a standard MD485 network:

Computer <<<>>> NL100 #1 RS-232 Port or 10-Base T Port
NL100 #1(PB678) CSI/O Port <<<>>> CR1000 #1(PB1) CSI/O Port
NL100 #1 RS-485 Port <<<>>> NL100 #2(PB677) RS-485 Port
NL100 #2 CSI/O Port <<<>> CR1000 #2(PB2) CSI/O Port

At present we are unable to establish communications with CR1000 #2. We have tried a multitude of port settings and PB address combinations without success.

If we substitute an MD485 for the NL100 #2 we are able to establish communications with CR1000 #2.

Is there a certain combination of settings that are required for the above scenario to work or is it impossible to use two (or more) NL100s in the setup described.

Any help will be appreciated.

One or both of the NL100 devices must be configured to beacon. Otherwise, the path discovery will not take place.

One other thing to look at is the port used for the connection. Usually it is 6785, the CSIO 6783, These values can be changed to meet your requirements.
