Sending and receiving SMS with CR1000

Test123 Mar 17, 2010 07:37 PM

Hello,

I want to try the following thing:

I have one equipment with potentional free contact, now this contact must be connected to the CR1000 datalogger.
When there is equipment generate alarm this contact will close ... the datalogger must detect this and send "alarm" message to programmed number.

When the person received the alarm he must be able to reset the alarm with sending sms "alarm off"

I use wavecom fastrack as gsm modem.

1 ste question: do i have to use the ground or 12V and C1 on the datalogger?

2 ste question: can someone help me haw to write cr basic program to send this alarm message to select number.

and resetting datalogger alarm status with "alarm off" sms.

I would be very greatfull if someone can help, because i am not that good in programming.

Thanks in advance,

For details of use of this modem please see the CS-GSM manual here:

ftp://ftp.campbellsci.co.uk/pub/csl/outgoing/uk/manuals/cs_gsm.pdf

I have also put a couple of program examples for showing general principles of dealing with SMS text messages in this folder:

ftp://ftp.campbellsci.co.uk/pub/csl/outgoing/programs/

The filenames start with SMS and end .CR1. There are a lot of comments in those programs which use some relatively advanced CRBasic. If you want more advice or a custom program written to do exactly what you want please contact your local Campbell Scientific office.
