PakBus via radio

DaveReid Feb 15, 2010 02:31 AM

I'm investigating using PakBus over radio.

I have read the PacBus net guide, but I can't find any typical "Hop Metric" figures, or any data on how many transactions are required to send a typical message.

- Assuming we were using 1200 bps radio modems, can anyone advise a typical Hop Metric time ?

- How many transactions would be required to send (say) 10 data points ?

- I assume it would be a fair estimate to simply add up the expected number of nodes required to reach the datalogger undergoing interrogation to get an estimate of the channel time expected to be needed for each transaction if it were resent through several nodes. ?

I'm interested in this, as I wish to estimate the capacity of a radio based PACBUS network. I don't anticipate using PakBus aware radios like the RF401 as they lack power, so at what point would the network start to suffer from excessive collisions ?

Thank you.
