RV50 cell tower signal strength (RSSI) datalogging

SmartWater Aug 15, 2016 03:44 PM

Has anyone figured out how to log the RSSI value (-dB) from the RV50? This value is available from ACE Manager, but we don't provide our customers with access to ACE manager. We want the RSSI displayed in our front end website application.

Thanks,

If the modem is connected to the logger via PPP, we have been able to get a bit of diagnotic data from these modems.  Here is a link to a sample program that can be modified to get the RSSI value you are looking for.  https://goo.gl/6d9cF4  Look at the file named Raven_Status_and Dyndns_update.DLD.

Also look at the blog article How to Access and Control Your Raven Modem via TCP/IP.

The RV50 and the Raven modems are developed by the same company and have simular ways of accessing the RSSI value.

The link is being block by IE, reporting a 403 error.

Is it possible for the logger to query the modem for its RSSI using AT commands?  My concern is a potential conflict at the modem's serial port if LoggerNet calls to collect data from the logger.

Thanks,

Bo

This is the blog article address:

Using the method described in the article won't interrupt communications with Loggernet.
