am16/32b daisy chain

MtJoy Jul 22, 2016 04:09 PM

Can AM16/32B be connected in daisy chain? Thank you.

if yes, what kind of cable is required?

if no, how long the cable between MUX and data logger can be? What kind of cable it is required?

Daisy chaining multiplexers is not supported by Campbell Scientific. The cost in programming time to handle the complexity exceeds the cost of acquiring more hardware to not need daisy chaining.

Cables from the datalogger to the multiplexer can be pretty long. How long you can go depends mostly on the sensors you have connected. Keep in mind that the length of the cable betwen the datalogger and the mux effectively gets added to the length of the sensor cable. With long cables, you might need to use 18AWG wires for 12V and G.

We have recommended cables for the sensor signals and mux control. They are listed as accessories on the product page.

You may also want to consider the CDM-A108 or CDM-A116. They cost more than multiplexers, but can be daisy chained and perform measurement in parallel to each other.
