Importing data into an Excel File?

cpatt Nov 10, 2009 02:00 PM

Is anyone downloading data from a remote weather station using Loggernet (or PC208), and then importing the .log file into excel?

Looking for some help on the best way to import this external data so that every 24 hours the data can be refreshed and fill out a weather forecasting sheet.

Best to use MS Query in Excel? or is there an easier way?

cpatt,

I'm assuming you have the exact table you need generated by the datalogger for the 24 hour period. Using Loggernet you can pull that data table and instead of using the default .dat file extension, use the .csv file extension.
If you use "Overwrite existing file" you'll have a new file every day with the exact data you require.
Double clicking on the CSV file automatically opens it in Excel. There may be some way to automate this process with Task Master in Loggernet, haven't tried it myself.

Rgds,
