PCONNECTCE PDA Connection with Mini USB

Steveturner Oct 13, 2009 09:50 AM

When using a Windows mobile PDA (with Mini USB connector) we are able to communicate by Bluetooth adaptor and a SC932A to a CR10X. But we wish to connect directly i.e. from mini USB on the PDA to the serial on the SC932A. The PconnectCE software comes with a serial connector, is it possible to get a serial Mini USB cable?

Most PDAs only support USB as a slave/client device. To drive all USB to serial interfaces I know of, the computer has to act as the host/master USB device.

There is a new USB standard called USB On the go, with a different connector again but where the device can act in either mode. I had heard this may be offered on some PDAs, but if you have a standard mini-B connector it seems unlikely yours does I am afraid. You could check and if your device does support the new standard find a serial adaptor that has drivers for Windows Mobile.
