Use CR800 CS I/O port for serial comm

weatherguy Sep 1, 2015 05:15 PM

My CR800 COM1, COM2 and RS232 ports are in use but I need one more serial port. The docs indicate that the CS I/O port can be used as another serial port. I know the pinout is different than the RS232 port and have made a cable. However, what port name do I use in SerialOpen to access the CS I/O port? Thanks in advance. -Phil

The voltage levels and the signals on the CS I/O port are incompatible RS-232 and a direct connection is going to lead to grief. You can do what you want using an SC32B, an SC932C, an MD485 or a SC105. If you use the first two options, then the port will be that associated with CS I/O Modem Enable (ME). If you use the latter, you have the option of CS I/O ME, CS I/O SDC7, CS I/O SDC8, CS I/O SDC10, or CS I/O SDC11.
