FTP based on SSH (SFTP)

Ison Aug 19, 2015 02:15 PM

Hi,

We are using CR1000 with NL115 to set up a remote datalogger system hoping the data can be sent back to our server at university automatically, but the SFTP is the only FTP protocol permitted by the university. So I am writing to ask if FTPclient() support SFTP or not? if not,do you have other recommendation for this situation?

We try to make the connection without installing the Loggernet in the server, but if we have to, it is ok. And in that situation, we have another question: we need another computer which has the Loggernet to update the program. Can we set up them in the same pakbus network, including the dataloggers, the server with Loggernet, and a computer with another loggernet (we have two licence).

Thank you very much

Ison

The CR1000 does not support SFTP which, by the way, is not really FTP but rather file services provided by the secure shell protocol. The datalogger DOES support FTPS (FTP over TLS) client as well as HTTP(S) client. In addition to this, the CR1000 provides server support for both FTP as well HTTP and, as such provides a mechanism where it can be rather easily polled for new data.

The PakBus/TCP implementation in the CR1000 allows effectively dozens of clients to connect to the datalogger simultaneously provided that each has a unique assigned PakBus address. You can use the Network Planner to model these connections and to generate appropriate configurations for both dataloggers and LoggerNet.

Thank you. I am looking into the PakBus configuration, but can we install two loggernets in the same network?

So far as PakBus networking is concerned, LoggerNet is merely another PakBus node that can act as a router so you can have any number of LoggerNets the same as you can have any number of dataloggers on the same network (within the limit of available PakBus addresses).

The Network Planner will assign different PakBus addresses to each LoggerNet server in the network.
Or, in LoggerNet's setup screen click Tools | LoggerNet Server Settings | PakBus settings. There you can change the PakBus address.
