Jamal Mar 5, 2015 11:16 PM

Hello,
I have 2 cr6(cr6M with addr1and cr6S with addr2) connected via com1 port. A gsm modem is connected to csi/o port of cr6M.How can I access remotely to cr6S?
Tanks for help.

It is possible to do if the loggers are really close together and both have unique PakBus addresses.

The CR6 that is connected to the GSM modem will need to be setup as a PakBus router. This can be done with Device Configuration Utility (DevConfig).

Once that is done, then connect three wires between your two CR6. For example C1 on datalogger 1 to C2 on datalogger 2. C2 on datalogger 1 to C1 on datalogger 2. The last wire is a ground to ground between the loggers.

You could use any two free pair of ports on the CR6. I just used C1 and C2 for a quick example as this also works on these ports on the CR1000, CR3000, and CR8X0.

In DevConfig on both loggers under the ComPorts tab set Control C1 to 115200 Fixed, Beacon 60, Verify 3600.

The loggers should start talking PakBus after they work out the initial PakBus exchange.

If the loggers are not close (within 10 feet) a set of RF radio could do the same thing.

In LoggerNet (in Setup) it would be setup as IPPort -> PakBusPort -> CR6 (GSM) -> CR6 (underneath the first CR6 so it knows to route through the first CR6).

That is the quick and dirty run down on how to do what you are looking for.
