Measurement Matters – Updating an Operating System

jra Dec 23, 2014 09:40 PM

Q: I’m trying to upload the latest operating system for my datalogger but it is failing. What could be the problem?

A: When you download an Operating System (OS) from our web site it bundled, in an executable file, with a pre-compiler and CRBasic support files. Running the downloaded .exe file will place all the files in default directories for subsequent use. The OS to be sent to the datalogger will have an obj extension. For example, CR1000.Std.27.obj is the OS file you’ll send to a CR1000.

Also, each datalogger model has its own OS. You must load a CR1000 OS into a CR1000 datalogger. Attempting to load a CR6 OS into a CR1000 will result in a failure.

When uploading an OS through the Device Configuration Utility’s “Send OS” tab, follow the instructions listed. Some dataloggers require you to it power down at a certain point, then power it up again. That is crucial.

Tip: The latest version of each datalogger’s operating system can be downloaded, free of charge, from our web site https://www.campbellsci.com/downloads
