I would like to connect a battery powered Raven modem to a CR510 without using the SC932A connector. I don't see a Campbell cable that will do. It seems that one should be able to cut a 18663 9 pin male - 9 pin male cable and switch the wires to enable the logger and modem to communicate. My housing space is tight and the SC932a are kind of clumsy to fit in the space. Anyone have a recipe for that?
You have to use an SC932A or SC105 interface. The signals on the CSIO port are not RS232 levels. The interface is needed to drive the voltage levels the RS232 port on the modem is wired for.
Thanks for the answer. I guess the thought was that if the SC929 can support communication from the CSI port to the computer RS232, then something similar could be rigged up for short term communication between CSI port and a modem RS232.
The SC929 has a small circuit board with logic and voltage level conversion circuitry on it, in the silver connector as the logger end of the cable.
