Airlink LS300G

LarryT Aug 18, 2014 11:55 PM

Noticed today (August 2014) that Campbell is now providing the Airlink LS300G cellular modem in a 3G GSM version. We have been using the CDMA version for a year now and have the following observations:

1) The LS300 is in fact more power 'thirsty' than the older Raven models so make sure your power system is adequate.

2) The power cord has four wires instead of the two the Raven had. The four wires include the red and black for 12V Pos and Neg plus a white and green wire. We use the white wire with the SW12 terminal to turn the modem off and on and it works fine. The green wire is for a relay or switch and could be useful in some situations.

3) Even with the turning on for five minutes in every fifteen minutes, we have had power issues in winter related to low insolation levels, so a minimum of a 20 watt solar panel and a healthy battery (we use two 7 AHr SLA's) is recommended if using solar power.

4) Campbell has some ALEOS CDMA templates on their Download pages that would fine for us.

These modems have worked fine for us and we have no complaints with the connectivity provided by these units.

Regards,

Larry
