CS120 Communication Issues

TrentDiesel Aug 4, 2014 04:52 PM

I have a CS120 visibility sensor that I'm having issues with. I wanted to change some of the settings on it so I wired the sensor exactly as described in DevConfig (v. 2.06) to my CR800 datalogger. The datalogger is powered by a BPALK battery pack. I removed the internal connector B from the CS120 and plugged in the configuration cable (28680). The other end of the configuration cable goes to a serial-to-USB cable so I can hook up to it with my computer.

I have tried to connect to the sensor using DevConfig. When I try to connect to the sensor it takes a moment and then the connection times out. I've tried adjusting the BAUD rate but the same problem occurs.

What I should I do? I think my problem might have something to do with using the serial-to-USB cable but perhaps there is something else I'm missing.

Thank you.

Hi

Few things you might check.

You can use the internal dip-switches to force the CS120 into default RS232, 38400 to avoid any uncertainty.

You can try to talk to the sensor with a terminal emulator such as Teraterm or Hyperterminal.

On DevConfig you can try to connect to the CS120 as 'other' rather than CS120.

Do you have a serial number for the CS120?
