Wavecom Fastrack Supreme 10 GPRS connection problem

HelioLab Jun 24, 2014 11:20 AM

Hello

I am using a SIM card with a CR1000, a SC105 and a Wavecom Fastrack Supreme 10.

All works perfect at 9600 Bds: I can connect the CR1000 through an IP address with Device Configuration Utility, I can collect data with LoggerNet 3.4.1, etc.

Problem:
I have a second Wavecom Fastrack Supreme 10 which apparently has the same configuration (I can see this with AT commands).
I replace the first modem by the second one.

The modem does see the provider (the red light of the modem blinks slowly) but the connection fails.

If I replace the bad modem by the first one, all works well again.

Is there a possibility to copy the exact configuration of modem 1 to modem 2 ? To reinit modem 2 at factory settings (not only AT&F) ? Any other suggestion ?

Thank you for your help.

PS: I checked everything in the CR1000 and the SC105 configurations with Device Configuration Utility

Did you set the APN configuration in the second modem or embed it in the dial string?

Thank you for your answer.

I think I set the APN in the dial string, since I wrote it by Device Configuration Utility in the CR1000 configuration screen (see ftp://ftp.cea.fr/incoming/y2k01/CS/apn.jpg - some pictures of the experiment using our CR3000).

That looks OK. Unfortunately the AT&F setting does not reset all of the newer settings. Key settings to look out for are that:

You have set the correct baud rate to match the SC105
Result codes are set to numeric (to match your logger setup)and also the result code matches the baud rate
Hardware handshaking is turned off.

You have set the correct baud rate to match the SC105

---> OK, 9600 bauds here

Result codes are set to numeric (to match your logger setup

---> corrected (ATV0 instead of ATV1), but still there is no connection.

and also the result code matches the baud rate

---> I do not understand this point, any example of corresponding AT command ?

Hardware handshaking is turned off.

---> OK

If you use the modem set to numeric codes (ATV0) the response code equivalent to CONNECT (in verbose codes) varies with the baud rate. For Wavecoms 21 is returned at 115200, 15 for 9600 baud. This code has to be entered in the expect connect response in the logger PPP setup.

FYI we used to recommend using the numeric result codes for historical reasons. More recently, and if the modem is only going to be used with the CR800/CR1000/CR3000 loggers we now recommend using verbose codes (ATV1) and leaving the expected response code at "CONNECT" which works no matter which baud rate you use.

Some progress since our last Exchange.

1- Response codes
I tried your solution and added ATVx at the beginning of the Modem Dial String and put the right return code in the Modem Dial Response (Device Configuration tility)

ATV0;AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet-entreprise";ATD*99***1#
which works with 25 at 115200 bauds (and not 21 which works at 9600 bauds here)

ATV1;AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet-entreprise";ATD*99***1#
which works with CONNECT

2- Second modem Reinit
The French Technical Support sent me a series of AT commands which successfully reinited the second modem.

Everything is OK now. Thank you for the help.

I checked this out an it seems the numeric results codes have varied over the years and with the Wavecom models too. Sorry for the confusion. This shows it was a good idea to switch to the verbose codes.
