Wavecom Fastrack Xtend PPP Connection with CR1000

MattB May 2, 2014 05:29 AM

Hi,

I am trying to establish a PPP connection using a Wavecom Fastrack Xtend (FXT009) and a CR1000 so I can send emails out.

I have followed all the instructions in the CS-GPRS manual but am not having any luck.

I am in New Zealand using a Vodafone SIM card and the APN is "vodafone":

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","vodafone"

I can establish a PPP connection using the modem in HyperTerminal no problems - just not with the PPP settings in the CR1000.

I have ATV0 so am expecting result code of "25" when a PPP connection is established.

In Device Config, I have entered:
RS232 port for use
Modem Dial String *99***1#
Modem Dial Response 25

I have tried ATV1 and the modem result code "CONNECT" but still no luck.

I believe that when a PPP connection is established, I should see some IP addresses in the TCP/IP page on Device Config? The only thing that is there is:

PPP IP: 0.0.0.0
PPP gw: 0.0.0.0
ppp state: dialing -> dialing

I have the Wavecom connected the the logger RS232 port. Logger RS232 port is set to 115200 Auto and Wavecom is programmed to 115200 baud.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Matt

Hi Matt,

Are you using a null modem between the modem and the RS232 port?

Hi Steve,

Thanks very much for you posting.

The cable I am using is a custom made cable that we normally use for circuit switch dial up connections using a Wavecom. Perhaps this is the issue?

The pin out of my cable is as follows:

D15-Male D9-Male
Wavecom CR1000
2 ---> 2
6 ---> 3
7 to 8
8 to 7
9 ---> 5
11 to 12 7 to 8
12 to 11 8 to 7
13 ---> 9

The above shows loop-backs between 7&8 and 11&12 on the D-15 connector, and a loop-back of 7&8 on the D-9 connector.

Thanks again,

Matt

Hi Matt,

This cable is a null modem. As it should be.

Hi Steve,

Thanks so much for your advice!

I'll try altering the cable as you suggest and let you know how I get on.

Thanks again,

Matt
