RF401 PakBus Node Setting problem

zning Jan 2, 2014 06:41 PM

Hi

When I choose PakBus Node as RF401 protocol, why under Device Config 'PakBus' tab, the Beacon interval, verify interval, Central Router and Neighbors are not editable? Can someone explain?

Thanks and Happy new year!

As best I understand the functioning of the RF401, the settings to which you refer above are only applicable when the radio is configured as a PakBus router. That is, the "Active Interface" setting has to be set to "PakBus Router". The purpose of the "PakBus Node" option is to make it possible for the datalogger to query operating information, such as received signal strength, from the radio.

Oh Thanks. That reminds me what I've read before.
Ok,then I want to expand the discussion a little bit if anyone would be interested.

I am going to put a box at the top of a tunnel portal with a CR800 to collect data from stations inside the tunnels (South bound and North bound) and also on the ground. To ensure line-of-sight radio communication to all these locations, I put three RF401 in this box: one with omni antenna to communicate with on-ground stations, two with Yagi antennas to communicate with in-tunnel stations (I would use long antenna cable and point the yagi antennas into each tunnel).

Regarding the configuration, I am using CS I/O port on CR-800 to connect all the three RF401, setting each RF401 as PakBus node with unique PakBus address and SDC address. Also, set CR-800 as PakBus router.

I was also thinking about using one RF401 connecting to three antennas with certain cable splitter but may suffer significant signal loss.

Any thoughts and advise?
