CR1000 with 3 am16/32 for PT100 and 9 AM16/32 for Vibrating Wire Sensors

trantam Nov 9, 2013 05:42 AM

Dear Madam/Sir

Thank you very much for your view this time.
Could you help me a problem, please ?
My problem is: I get a difficult problem when i wire CR1000 with many AM16/32 (Multiplexers) and I can not create a program so as to get data from this design.

Details:

I used 12 multiplexers-AM16/32 in order to wire to CR1000.
+ Therein, I used 3 Multiplexers for Thermistor (Type PT-100) and 3 serial multiplexers is wired. In this connecting, i connected ports in the first multiplexer( Mux_1) and the second multiplexer (Mux_2) and the third multiplexer (Mux_3) like below:
- Ports in Mux1 and Mux2 and Mux3 are exactly connected to PT100 sensors ( I wired following manual) and Power supply is also right.
- Pin COMA and pin COMB in Mux_1, Mux_2, Mux_3 are parallel connection together. And, Pin A in Mux is connected to pin 1-H (CR1000), Pin COMB in Mux is connected to pin 1-L (CR1000)
- On Port IN of Mux1: Pin RST is connected to C2( RX-COM1-CR1000), Pin CLK is connected to C1( TX-COM1-CR1000)
- Pin RST on Port OUT of Mux1 is connected to pin RTS on Port IN of Mux2 , Pin CLK on Port OUT of Mux1 is connected to pin CLK on Port IN of Mux2
==-> My problem is: I tested successfully with 1 Mux1 but not successfully with over 2 Mux for PT-100 with this connect. I do not clearly that this connect, Mux1 is connected to Mux2 and Mux3, is right or wrong ?

+ In addition, I used 9 Multiplexers for Piozemeter Sensors (VIBRATING WIRE SENSORS) . 9 multiplexers are connected together like below: (I call 9 multiplexers : Mux 4, Mux5, Mux6, Mux7, Mux8,…., Mux12)

- Mux4:
Pin COM_A is connected Pin 1V+ of AVW200.
Pin COM_B is connected Pin 1V- of AVW200.
Pin COM_C is connected Pin 1T+ of AVW200.
Pin COM_D is connected Pin 1T+ of AVW200.
Pin RST (Port IN) is connected Pin RES of AVW200.
Pin CLK (Port IN) is connected Pin CLK of AVW200.
Pin COM_H and COM_L are been empty.

- Mux5:
Pin COM_A is connected Pin COM_A of Mux4.
Pin COM_B is connected Pin COM_B of Mux4.
Pin COM_C is connected Pin COM_C of Mux4.
Pin COM_D is connected Pin COM_D of Mux4.
Pin COM_H and COM_L are been empty.
Pin RST (Port IN) is connected Pin RST (Port OUT) of Mux4
Pin CLK (Port IN) is connected Pin CLK (Port OUT) of Mux4
- Mux6: is connected to Mux5 like Mux5 is connected to Mux4 and the same with existence Muxs.
- AVW200 is connected to CR100 like manual. And I used COM2 in CR1000 to control and get data from AVW200.
==-> My problem: I tested successfully with 1 Mux1 but not successfully with over 2 Mux for Vibrating wire sensors with this connect. I do not clearly that this connect, Mux4 is connected to Mux5 and Mux6 …. , is right or wrong ?

Could you give me your advices for my design ? It's great if you send to me some sample designs and program for 12 multiplexers and 1 avw200 and 1 cr1000 and MD485 ! one again, i thank you so much !
I would be grateful if you could attend to this matter as soon as possible.

Kind Regards.

I assume the multiplexers are not Campbell AM16/32 as Campbell's do not have RST(Port IN) and RST(Port OUT) and the same applies to CLK. Are they Roctest?

Sorry but your description is not very clear.
First of all, you measure the PT100 with three-wire?
I think yes, if you are using only 1H and 1L of CR1000.

How many avw200 do you have? I think almost five!

I would do so:

C1 of CR1000 to CLK of MUX 1,2,3
C2 of CR1000 to RES of MUX1
C3 of CR1000 to RES of MUX2
C4 of CR1000 to RES of MUX3
for MUX 1, 2 and 3 you must enable with RES one MUX at time, make measurements and disable it, then enable the next and so on......

for AVW200 with SDI12 protocol
C5 of CR1000 to for AVW200_1 that control mux4 and mux5
C5 of CR1000 to for AVW200_2 that control mux6 and mux7

C7 of CR1000 to for AVW200_3 that control mux8 and mux9
C7 of CR1000 to for AVW200_4 that control mux10 and mux11
C7 of CR1000 to for AVW200_5 that control mux12

The first clarification needed is the make of multiplexer being used. The description of the connections fit with Roctest multiplexers. If these are Roctest then the program needs to be changed to suit.

Smile for the first three muxes you are correct but this is not the only way for example all three muxes can be connected to the same CLK and RES but each mux will then be connected to different analog inputs.

Smile you have assumed SDI12 for the AVW200 from the description I assumed RS232 into COM2 which means that C3 and C4 are not available for mux control. Only one AVW200 is required for the VW sensors but a SDM-CD16D will be needed if there are not enough control ports.

Having said all that if these are Roctest muxes then all of them will be controlled by one CLK and one RES port say C1 and C2, as in the description.

It seems clear that the type of multiplexer is the model AM16/32 Campbell how says TranTam,
also because I visited the site of Roctest and their mux is called RTX-248 (I don't know how it works).

Only TranTam can confirm this.

Waiting for confirmation of the model of the multiplexer,

I have to study a new configuration. Reading the AVW200 manual more carefully, with the option SDI-12, the logger have to manage the multiplexers.

I know all about Roctest muxes including how they work and I have been using Campbell muxes for years, my first logger was a CR10, so if you need help just ask.
