Cr1000 with Gprs and Dynamic Ip (SendEmail)

Obimikel Nov 8, 2013 11:58 AM

Hello, I have a Cr1000 with a Gprs modem (FXT009) working with dynamic Ip.

I need to send data to a Pc with fixed Ip. I can connect with the logger when I know an assigned Ip but, I need to know the Ip when it changes.

It is possible send the a data file to an email adress?? If it is possible, no need worry for the dynamic Ip.

If it is no possible, Can I attach the Ip that have the logger at the moment and send it by mail or ftp?? I need that the logger send automatically every 10 minutes. In this case I can change manually the Ip adress when I need connect.

What is the best way to connect with a a logger with dynamic Ip??

Thanks and congratulations for the forum.

When a logger is located at a dynamic IP address location customers most often have the datalogger initiate a "PakBus/TCP Client Connection" back to LoggerNet. The CR1000 and modem need to be configured in such a way that the datalogger can utilize it's own IP functionality to access the internet. In other words the GPRS modem needs to allow the logger to initiate a PPP connection to the network instead of acting as an IP serial server for the logger.

Then ...

+ Make the LoggerNet PC available on the public Internet via a static IP address or via a fully qualified host name resolvable by a DNS service. Using the default configurations, we'll assume that the datalogger needs to contact LoggerNet over IP port 6785.

+ Configure LoggerNet with a PakBusTCPServer root in the Setup utility. PakBus Port Always Open = Checked/True.

+ Using Device Configuration Utility configure the logger with a PakBus/TCP Client setting. Point the logger to the Internet address of the LoggerNet computer.

The logger will initiate and maintain a connection back to LoggerNet so that you can do everything you need to do like collect data, send new programs, etc ...

If you want the logger to stop/close the connection run the PPPClose() command and maybe turn the modem off. When you are ready for the logger to connect again, turn on the modem, delay, and run PPPOpen().

Alternatively you could send data via FTP, email, or to hosted data service called KonectGDS to namea few.

Hello, thanks for the info. I'll try to use this method.

But, I saw the option : Airlinlk Ipmanager settings... I would to know if with that I can connect with my logger.

I've to try to connect with the modem, but at this moment I can't with the AceManager program . The problem it's the password.

You have tried to connect with this method?

Thanks

Obimikel, you ask if it is possible to send the file to an email address. That's what I am doing and it works very well. But every 10 minutes?? That's going to be a lot of emails, would your inbox cope with that?
