CC5mpx - jpg issue

Steve Aug 9, 2013 04:35 PM

I've run into an issue with the jpg files that are being created. Using pacbus through comm3 on a CR1000. The first image good then subsequent ones are very small and corrupt(?)i.e. no preview or image is there. No difference which resolution or compression chosen. Any thoughts out there?

Hi there,
I have experienced exactly the same problem. Configured the logger according to the CC5MPX manual (set up user drive, pakbus config etc.) I only receive corrupted pictures from the camera if that is set to send pictures triggered on their own.
I would try to use a logger programme to pull the picture via modem from the logger, but unfortunately I am missing the main commands and there is even no example in the manual that helps.
I have already called CSCI and was promised to receive some lines of code that may help, but unfortunately I have not received an answer.
If anyone in here would be so kind and provide some example lines of code that would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Stefan

It is hard to tell what is going wrong in your case, but it would be worth upgrading the firmware of the camera, if you have not already, as several errors relating to Pakbus transfers have been corrected in recent times. See here:

In my trouble shooting it became evident that it is the resolution and subsequent file size that is an issue. It seems that the protocol / program cannot handle the larger formats that the camera is capable of producing. I arrived at the best one by simply starting at the lowest and moving up until I got corrupt files. It also seemed to need a hard reboot of both the logger and camera between settings to get any where.
