RTMC Screen Freezes

wx2day Aug 8, 2013 04:51 PM

Good afternoon forum,

I have 4-sites where I am measuring winds real time. I have an RTMC screen the ocassionally will freeze up. After trying many remedies with loggernetadmin toolbar, nothing worked except rebooting the machine. In addition, one wuold think that data would be missing during the period while shutting the system down. Upon rebooting and restarting loggernet, the data was collected from somewher being logged.

Upon reading posts on this forum I saw suggestions to:

1) Set RTMC RUNTIME to priority, Realtime. It only allowed me to set it to High.

2) Under screen preferences in RTMCPRO Developer, set graphics from high to balanced setting and turn off animation.
? to turn off animation you have to check the box to disable?

My operating system is WIN 7 ENT
RTMC PRO DEVELOPMENT: 3.1.0.24
RTMC Run Time: 4/0/0/71

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Please try patching your runtime to the latest version 4.1 that has just been posted on our downloads page.

There is a known issue we have discovered with some new releases of the charting tools used for RTMC that can cause a memory leak. This can result in it grinding to a halt after a while. This may be your problem it may not be.

This text is published in the readme file for the latest version of our packages:

RTMC will not function properly if the TeeChart control is newer than:
TeeChart2011.0.0.5ActiveX.exe
January 12, 2012
Build 2011.0.0.5
File size - 30.86 MB

If you install another application that overwrites this control with a newer version, you will see issues in RTMC. Re-installing LoggerNet/RTMC will fix the problem.

Thank You Andrew.

I am using loggernetadmin locally on site. RTMC Runtime is not being used. RTMC PRO and Runtime our inside the product.
I am also loading as a service. My version of Loggernet is 4.1 updated from the patch on your site 4 months ago. Screens were developed with RTMC Pro Development 3.1.0.24

What would you recommend?

As a start upgrade your Loggernet to 4.2 using the latest patch which is on our downloads site. This will update the runtime component of RTMC in Loggernet.

Andrew--

Loggenet patch from 4.1 to 4.2 upgraded fine

My version of RTMCPro is 3.2.0.94
When I try to apply RTMCPro 4.1 Patch it says
"The setup has detected that version 3.02.000 of RTMC is already installed. The setup is not compatibile with this version. You will have to uninstall previous version before installing this version."

Whe I do uninstall it than says no version of RTMCPro found.

Could you cut and paste a screen shot of what the RTMC looks like. Our NWS facebook and twitter people want to develop a few of their own. Always open to new ideas and presentations.

I am afraid you cannot patch from a version 3 to version 4 of RTMC Pro as the transition from 3 to 4 is a paid for upgrade. (If you buy this you will also get a copy of the new CSI Webserver included.)

The RTMC Runtime (latest V 4.1) will run forms generated in an older version of RTMC, e.g. 3.2. You can also use the standard version of RTMC in Loggernet 4 to generate forms but with limited functionality compared to the Pro version.

Will the version of RTMC that I'm currently using work with the new Loggernet update?

Also, Will this stop the screen from freezing?

Should I update to RTMCPro Ver 4?

wx2day,

Updating LoggerNet will also update RTMC so there should not be a conflict (shouldn't be even if RTMC were not updated)

Here is a note from the LoggerNet 4.2 revision history:
Known Issues - RTMC will not function properly if the TeeChart control is newer than: TeeChart2011.0.0.5ActiveX.exe, January 12, 2012, Build 2011.0.0.5, File size - 30.86 MB, Therefore, if you install another application that overwrites this control with a newer version, you will see issues in RTMC. Re-installing LoggerNet will fix the problem.

This may or may not be your problem, but it is worth noting.

As far as upgrading to RTMC Pro, that is totally up to you. There are expanded display and alarming features (among many other things) in RTMC Pro, as well as the CSI Web server, which will allow you to publish your RTMC project as a web page on your local machine.

If you have any questions about RTMC or migrating from Handar/Vaisala equipment feel free to contact me directly at kconner@campbellsci.com.
