Hallo,

I want to get a information within a CR1000 Program wether data where send via GPRS or not.
like

18:25:10.20 ppp Sending 41 bytes, service 3ec038

I will use the information for a automatic system reset (Modem and Logger), becaus I´ am not sure if the problem with the lost GPRS connection are solved in OS26.

Hi,
it´s me again. I will explain my question more in detail.

Currently I lost the GPRS connection to most of my stations. And, I ´am not sure what realy the problem is. As it discussed allready in the CSI forum, it could be a problem of the data logger memory. I assume, if the modem get a new IP adress by the provider, the logger not realized the new IP adress and trying to dial the old IP adress. Or the logger can´t syncronize the new IP adress.
Anyway, I need a relaiable Information of the status table if the Logger is connected to the DMZ-server with a fixed IP adress. If the Logger is not connected, I want to reset the Logger and the Modem for a complete reboot of the system. I suppose that is the only way to bring them online, without loosing data.
I have two loggers at my desk running OS26. One is for the test without a automatic reset (hopefully it will work), and the other one for testing the automatic reset with a relay switch.

cheers Heiko

There were a number of improvements in OS26, including one which overcomes an issue with PPP dialling failing (forever) if the modem sends some unexpected characters to the logger. This might be your problem, but do not rule out network issues, some of which can be corrected by forcing a soft reset of the modem or better still a soft/hard reset.

In terms of probing the connection, beyond that which the logger does, the simplest would be to using the IPPing command to a remote server as that tests the ability of the logger to pass traffic through the PPP connection and out onto the internet. (It is possible for the PPP connection to be up but there be no routing in place) This is pretty simple to build into your program, but make sure your network provider does allow pings to flow.
