Connect Hach DO probe to CR1000 using register #s

Hello CSI,
I would like to communicate with a HACH LDO sensor using a CR1000. The sensor manual http://www.hach.com/asset-get.download-en.jsa?id=7639983072has a Modbus Register Table with rows that shows stuff like:

Tag name: Oxygen Concentration
Register #: 40001
Data type: Float
Length: 2
R/W: R
Units (U): ppm
Range: 0..20

Can I use the Com ports to communicate with this sensor? What would be an example script?

The sensor has five wires:
+12V
Data negative
Data positive
Ground
Shield/Screen

According to one of your application engineers, I require an RS232-to-RS485 interface/converter.
