Loggernet Connection Failure

PatTU Jan 18, 2013 10:40 AM

Hi,

we are having an issue with our two CR3000 dataloggers where there are random failures in data collection using the Loggernet automatic collection, where Loggernet does not connect to the Logger. However the main issue is that Loggernet always connects manually (eg. using collect now on the status monitor). So it is possible to wait for a scheduled connection which will fail and press collect now immediately afterwards and the connection succeeds.

We are connecting through IP ports and I've found this error in the communication log
"2012-11-12 5:28:12 PM","IPPort","S","opening","192.168.1.62,6785"
"2012-11-12 5:28:14 PM","IPPort","F","Open failed"
"2012-11-12 5:28:17 PM","PakBusPort","S","link lost","4094","1"

which would suggest a problem with the IP port but it doesnt explain why manual connection attempts always succeed.

The comms log is reporting that the attempt to open the TCP connection to the station failed. This could be caused by, among other things, the following:

- Your station is programmed to turn the power on to the cellular modem only on certain time windows which are designed to coincide with scheduled collection. You attempts to collect could be falling outside these windows. This approach is commonly used to conserve power.

- There are more than one clients attempting to access your station and the cellular modem is configured as a serial server. In this mode, the modem will only accept one client connection at a time and all others will be rejected.
