cbs ott bubbler (cs470) 4-20mA output

BenFerguson Nov 15, 2012 01:05 PM

Hi,
I am trying to connect a cs470 through a 4-20mA analogue output (the sdi12 output is already occupied) to a Cr1000, using a diff channel, and a 100 ohm resistor to determine volts from mA. Specifically, the 4-20 +ve runs to diff H, the 4-20 -ve runs to the diff L, the resistor runs from diff H to diff L, and the diff L is wired to G (as per the CS instructions for reading 4-20mA into a logger.) However, whenever I connect the resistor across the high and low terminals of the diff channel, the output goes from fluctuating negative values to 0. Has anyone had an issue like this before? Could this be a result of passing the stated maximum resistance for a given input voltage(in this case, around 180 ohms, given the 12 volts supplied to the cs470), or would exceeding that limit simply make the output less reliable?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Ben.
