Using of a 3G modem in combination with CR1000

trashbk Aug 8, 2012 01:21 PM

Dear all,

does anybody has already experience in using a 3G modem instead of a GPRS modem with the CR1000?
Are there any differences to programme and trigger the modem in comparison to the GPRS modem?

Thanks in advance

In terms of programming, there aren't any differences to consider.

If you are connecting the modem to the RS232 port of the datalogger, you won't see any difference in speed with a 3G modem versus a GPRS modem.

To take advantage of the speed difference, you would need to use an ethernet interface like the NL120 on the CR1000 to connect it to an ethernet port of the modem. Take into consideration the power usage of all these components.
