Precip volume rain gauge program

AMK May 30, 2012 08:18 PM

Hi,
We are using stand alone volumetric rain gauges that need to be drained periodically. Does anyone have suggestions/pointers for an edlog program that could handle this correction and compute a running water year rainfall total?

Thanks,
AMK

precisely, how is drained? manually or with an electric device? or other?

Our procedure for draining the tank follows:
On paper: record current tank height
Drain shelter manually with a ball valve
On paper: record new tank height
Manually type in a precip. reset (CR23X #26)
Set Flag 1 high to tare the rain gauge for daily accumulation totals.

Thanks for the reply

I am not sure what you mean by "(CR23 # 26)".
Since it is not drained completely, in the datalogger program there is a procedure for considering the residual height after draining, by FLAG 1. It would be interesting to see that part of the program that handles this procedure. Perhaps this procedure should be modified to totalize the value of rain, first of its reset, to another location, where there will be the total annual rainfall. In the data storage, this new location will be only a sample and will reset to zero, one time in the year.
