CSI Web Server and older borswers

ScottB May 8, 2012 05:23 AM

Hi,

The CSI web server uses HMTL5 and in particular HTML 5 Canvas but this seems to not be supported by IE8. Is there a way of creating RTMCPro based web sites that either can push out the scripts needed for IE8 to use HTML 5 or to display a more graceful message??

I need to support IE8 and at the moment the CSI web server pages don't seem to be supported by IE8 and the error message is not that useful.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Scott.

One option to get IE8 to work with HTML 5 is to download the Google Chrome Frame extension.

Campbell Scientific do not officially support this though only the browsers listed in the spec. for CSI Web Server.

The Web Browser was written to the new HTML5 standard and uses it for many features of the display. Writing to this standard (which is supported by all modern browsers now) avoids issues of needing third party plugins (for the future) to support the more powerful graphics options of the new webserver.

If you cannot install a new browser or the plugin to make IE8 work, we can still supply the old RTMC Webserver, but that is comparatively limited in what it can do and does not support all features of the latest RTMC.
