CR1000 lost program recovering of data

Leonor Apr 10, 2012 01:40 PM

Due to a failure in the internal battery, the program in my CR1000 logger was lost ("unknown program" shows instead). I replaced the battery and need to reload the program without erasing the data already stored in the logger. Is there any way to do this? I can't find this option in my version of loggernet (3.3.1). Thanks

There are recovery techniques that sometimes can be used if a program is stopped or changed accidenatlly, but I fear you may be chasing a lost cause here. The main reason I say this is if no compact flash card is being used, the table data is stored in the main battery backed memory, i.e. the memory protected by the battery you removed and replaced. In replacing that battery you have likely cleared the memory of the logger.

One other problem to consider is how the logger lost the program as programs are stored in a separate memory area (an EEPROM chip) that is not dependent on the battery. Now if the main memory got severely corrupted due to the state of the battery the logger can get pretty confused, but under most circumstances, if the program was loaded with the run-on-powerup flag set, it should restart on power-up.
